Detroit Airport Transportation


Bus service is provided from Both terminals, at the Ground Transportation Center. There are two transportation services offering bus transportation


AirRide - McNamara Ground Transportation

Service is only provided at McNamara Terminal. The Ride links Detroit airport with different stations in the Ann Arbor Area.


Smart - McNamara Ground Transportation

AirRide and SMART transportation services are now located in the McNamara Ground Transportation Center. The public bus service runs between Detroit airport and Southeast Michigan.


- Routes 125 (Fort Street – Detroit) and 280 (Middlebelt Road): serves the North Terminal.

- Route 125: serves McNamara Terminal.


Taxis and Limos

Taxis and Limos are located in each terminal’s Ground Transportation (Level 4). Only two taxicab companies provide service:

It is not necessary to book the service in advance although it is recommended. Taxis and Limos run 24 hours daily.

Fare to reach Downtown Detroit is about $50.


Inter - Terminal Transportation


Transportation between Terminals

A free shuttle bus service connects both DTW airport terminals for free.



Inside the Terminal McNamara there is the ExpressTram, a people mover that transports passengers throughout Concourse A in just four min.


Courtesy Shuttles

There is another shuttle bus that links with Westin Hotel and runs every 10 minutes from each terminal (approximately).

Rental Car Agencies, more hotels and commercial shuttle buses pick-up and drop-off passengers on the Ground Transportation of each terminal.


There are prearranged shuttle services that depart and stop at both terminals (Ground Transportation Level).
